About Jiu-Jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu or Ju-Jitsu – Martial Art born in Japan. XI-XV centuries are the time of its flourishing. Term “Jiu-Jitsu” (art of softness and pliability) is widely used (as soft method) in “Stories of already passed” in Konzi monography from XI century.

We can surely say that, during the epoch of great wars between Taira and Minamoto clans Jiu-Jitsu became a system of martial arts, also as a suppurated type of Kempo. Most of information about the masters of Jiu-Jitsu of those times is lost. “Chronics of art of war” (“Budo denraki”) saved some names of Jiu-Jitsu masters from the period of internecine wars (XV-XVI cent.) – Hitozubasi Dzeken and Sekiguti Dzjusin. In not finished “Biography of school founders” (“Densi”), all descriptions are mainly related to Tokugava times. The number of Jiu-Jitsu schools of that time is close to 200 and is all time record. Most famous founders of the schools are: Miura Jesitazu, Fukuno Masakazu, and Isokan Dzirodzamon. Most schools practiced their classes not only on work with weapons but more on methods against weapons using bare hands and against weapons using other weapons. That means the rise of combined martial arts.

Combat Jiu-Jitsu, first of all, is an art of self defense. It is not a sport and not combination of techniques! It is a combination of skills that will help to outlive and win in real fight with one or many enemies, using weapons or not. For Jiu-Jitsu fighter time and place don’t matter. The ability to held the fight in limited space or in darkness, gain the victory in several seconds using effective punches, throws, suffocating and pain methods from any position.

The goal of Combat Jiu-Jitsu is in its unlimited possibilities. Those allow being mentally and tactically ready for any kind of attack.
